| I can't cover everything so please feel free to make suggestions to me on other things that would be useful to include.
To start off: The way I merchant is relatively safe if you check the prices you buy and sell at regularly. There are MANY ways of merchanting, this is simply ONE of the ways.
This style of merchanting is basically tapping in to the market at convenience of other players. There is no intent to manipulate prices (unlike clans). You BUY in items at a price where players are willing to sell cheap, to get cash fast. You SELL at price which players are willing to pay in order to get an item quickly.
A few Handy tips: (They may seem obvious but it's necessary to point out)
1. Never merchant what clans are.
2. Don't merchant items which are rising rapidly or crashing heavily.
3. The best items to merchant are the ones which are slowly falling in price at a steady rate.
4. Time is strictly of the essence; make yourself available when Grand Exchange updates.
5. It should not be a one time thing. You will not make money unless you do it regularly. It should never be about "I need to turn 2m to 10m" instead turn 2m to 15m and spend 10m so you have 5m left to merchant back the money spent.
6. Be observant of item prices. Check Grand Exchange tab under Game Guide, it's there for a reason.
7. Note item price changes and trends (image of dclaw trend below) if an item doesnt have one, it probably is difficult to merchant or will be high risk.
8. Avoid items such as: Rares, God Armours, Bandos, Armadyl, Godswords etc.
9. If you're p2p, merch p2p items only, higher profit yield than f2p.
10. For popular armour + weaponry there is a limit of 10x of the item per 4hours, for less popular the limit is 100x of the item per hour. For most consumables (runes, food, potions) the limit is 10,000x or 20,000x of the item.
EXAMPLE: Buy in 10x Bandos chestplate, when you put in offer to sell it will take 4 hours from when you've collected the chestplates. HOWEVER it is much more efficient to buy in 20x Bandos chestplates. Takes 4hours per 10, so 8 hours to buy, 4hours to sell. Which is 12hours. If you had bought 10, sold 10, bought new 10, sold new 10 it would take 16hours.

Look closely at the trend, the time taken for each cycle and when the price lowers, here's a prime example of low risk merchanting. The item is extremely popular, yes. But it's safe if you make note of days it's at lowest and highest. I tested this trend for this guide and made 1.5m off 1claws. If you look carefully, you will notice it goes from lowest to highest cycle in 3days. If you can't spot it, follow the line from 25-28 March and 1st April - 4th April.
I bought at lowest point for 100k below mid. People feared it was crashing. They didn't check the graph obviously I then sold for max, one day before peak. Also in that screen is 13whips I bought and sold, just to prove popular items can be merchanted.
In the space of 4 hours it's easy to make money, the good thing about merchanting is that I never need to spend more than 10mins making the money.
Dragon Platelegs I will ALWAYS vouch for. They've never lost me money, they're low profit, newby merching, and SAFE. Definitely a starting point.

| Example of Merchanting and the questions you should ask yourself.
I gave the example of Dragon Platelegs to merchant with earlier. I find this an easy example as I've merchanted them countless times for "quick profit" but only as I know exactly what price to buy them at.
Firstly when you're buying an item, look at the Grand Exchange information under game guide, is it dropping? If so, how steep? For Dragon Platelegs it's acceptable to merchant them if they're going down by no more than 20k a day
....

| Very nice guide Tett. This actually helped me quite a bit. <3 yanked in my first 1m profit off a merch. (that is 1m from 1 merch, just to clarify.) | |

| Oh lordie, I'd love that.. but I have a feeling that would quickly turn in to group merching and accidental manipulation. =P | |

| Yeah, then if I focused all my resources on an item, as did everyone else in the school, it'd be price manipulation and we'd effectively be a school of merchant clanners | |
